The Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) via the President and the Executive council has appealed to her member companies to do a proper Turn Around Maintenance (T.A.M) on their outdoor advertising structure across the country to avoid unpleasant situations as recently witnessed in Ibadan, Oyo State.
It would be recalled that before the establishment of the flagship state signage and advertisement regulatory agency by Lagos state (LASAA), there were numerous reports of incidents of falling billboards. Similar occurrence was prevalent in the Federal Capital Territory especially Abuja before the advent of Abuja Development authority now known as Department of Outdoor Advertising and Signage, DOAS.
Unfortunately, this year would commence with signal of reminder of the past era as some states have witnessed fallen billboards due to poor or lack of proper maintenance.
Most recent being the occurrence in Ibadan, which took the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency team to the street.
However, the OAAN Exco is calling for proper maintenance of billboards by member companies to avoid government clamp down. Outdoor Republic gathered that the association is taking the call for maintenance seriously with member companies with proposed penalty for failure to comply.
